UNAC: “Condemn FBI Raids on APSP and Uhuru Movement!”
On Friday, July 29th, the FBI raided the homes and offices of the African People’s Socialist Party, also known as the Uhuru movement, a well-established political organization with offices in St. Petersburg, FL and St. Louis. They were targeted for their position on the Ukraine War. The FBI agents attacked organization leaders with flash/bang grenades, then broke down their doors, handcuffed them and confiscated computer equipment. The people targeted in this organization were referred to as “unindicted co-conspirators” and treated as criminals. They were accused of being “Russian agents” because they connected with a Russian national who they met at a conference opposing the 2014 fascist coup in Ukraine.
This is an outrageous attack. It is a witch-hunt and an unacceptable violation of our collective rights to freedom of speech and association. It could happen to any of us who have traveled and met with activists and leaders of countries targeted by the United States.
Please sign the statement in solidarity with the APSP and the Uhuru Movement opposing the curtailment of our rights to freedom of speech and of association.
